Hartwood Ministries evolved in early 2004 from an organization that was established in the early 1990s to assist organizations with their human resources and staffing concerns. It has matured into a somewhat different, yet distinctly similar, organization. The transition into ministry consultancy was predicated on the identification of a number of needs for effective ministry in the church in a number of areas, most notably ministry design and development, marriage ministry, and staffing.
One of our goals is the establishment of a relationship with the lead pastor, staff members, and other ministry leaders by devoting our time, effort, and expertise to assisting and equipping them in establishing a solid foundation from which their church and congregation may accomplish their vision and purpose. This way, the church has a better chance for survival amid the turmoil of the world and the local community.
Ministries of the organization are comprised of a couple of distinct emphases: consulting services and ministry design and development. Consulting Services
Consulting services are provided in a number of areas important to the church staff desiring growth and effective ministry. Consulting projects may consist of a series of facilitated planning sessions and workshop activities that help build organizational and/or individual skills. A variety of assessments, interview, and survey techniques may be used to confirm your concerns or identify your needs. Both pastors and church leaders partner with us to develop appropriate strategies to implement sustainable changes, which result in improved ministry and address the factors affecting organizational and leadership effectiveness.
One of the goals of our organization is to help you discover the obstacles facing your church, then guide your leaders towards a customized and Biblically-based plan to overcome the limitations. We are professionals with expertise in areas of specialization which allow us to consult in most areas of church and ministry—from leading change in your church governance to developing innovative strategies for community outreach to managing the staff of your nonprofit ministry. Ministry By Design
This ministry was born of the notion that many pastors and church leaders are not properly equipped to build ministry in their church by their training and equipping in seminary or Bible school. Sure, they learn about hermeneutics, eschatology, and the importance of the Trinity; what about how to balance a budget or minister to widows or identify ministry needs and then implement an appropriate program to meet those needs? These are things not always learned while in college or seminary. This ministry provides answers to many of the questions often asked by new and old church leaders alike.
More than 100 ministries have been identified that can be provided by the church; there are more that have not been identified, although your church may offer some of them. The goal through Ministry By Design is to provide church leaders with a basis from which to design, develop, and maintain individual ministries in the church. Although we already have identified more than 100 ministries, we can work with you to design a ministry specifically for your needs in your church and community. The process is helped by already having a number of components prepared prior to designing the ministry for you. You can have your own personalized ministry that fits in with your specific needs.
Another component of this ministry is a series of volumes that address many of the issues surrounding the design of ministry in the local church. These volumes, titled Ministry By Design: The Series, is a collection of books that provide comprehensive overviews of many issues church leaders discuss and confront on a daily basis.
